The studio has an interesting collection of all ages and genders, with the oldest into their 80’s. All are positive thinking individuals who come ready to learn, progress, and in many cases heal. They bring their challenges with optimism and continue to challenge my years of expertise.
Pilates training taught and practiced correctly can transform your life. Your potential is infinite when you can fully connect your mind to your body movement and command different muscles to action. It means being able to focus, to be centered and in control, moving efficiently, coupled with flow and precision.
The ultimate reward for your hard work is that you can leave a session feeling completely rejuvenated and feeling a total connection between your mind, body and breath. The good news is that this experience can happen at any age.
Breathing, as Joesph Pilates once stated, is the fuel for your powerhouse, the engine that drives your movement.
Each long breath should be like a river of energy that flows to your core. With a shortness of breath there will be less oxygen in the blood. There will be poorer circulation often causing more aches and pains throughout the body. More oxygen in the blood calms the mind and body and encourages better concentration. Skin tone and color improves with more oxygen and better circulation. In short, proper breathing is the connecting link between the body, mind and spirit. It is the vehicle to achieve inner focus and concentration so the mind relaxes and the spirit calms.
The foundation of the Pilates method begins with correct breathing.
Pilates training is one of the safest methods of fitness training available. It is often recommended by doctors for patients with chronic pain and disabilities or for patients who are recovering from accidents. It is never too late to start safe fitness.
