The studio has an interesting collection of all ages and genders, with the oldest into their 80’s. All are positive thinking individuals who come ready to learn, progress, and in many cases heal. They bring their challenges with optimism and continue to challenge my years of expertise.
Imbalances in your body need to be corrected before strengthening muscles that may further build and hold the imbalances in place. The Beginners Pilates Classes we teach using different sized balls for the first half of the classes. To balance, correct body alignment is needed. The beauty of working with balls is that the student can feel the imbalances in their body. When they can start to understand and feel why they have been having trouble with balance issues, pain and discomfort, poor posture, knee problems etc., then they are more interested in taking the steps necessary to correct their problems.
Stretching often helps to correct alignment problems. Teaching a student the correct stretches for their particular problems is key. If their problem persists then we recommend other options to help correct the imbalances.
