The studio has an interesting collection of all ages and genders, with the oldest into their 80’s. All are positive thinking individuals who come ready to learn, progress, and in many cases heal. They bring their challenges with optimism and continue to challenge my years of expertise.
Your feet are your foundation. If your foundation weakens your balance will go.
There is not enough attention paid to strengthening feet. People go to a gym to work every other body part before feet. In fact, they do the workout in running shoes that fully support their feet. Their feet and lower leg muscles do not have to work much at all with running shoes. If you don’t use muscles they lose their strength, which is why you are at a gym in the first place, right?
In my opinion far too many people wear arch supports, which again, allows the muscles in the feet to become lazy because the arch supports and the running shoes do all the works for them. What is the #1 cause of death in seniors? Complications after falling. So, unless people are prepared to have their fully suppored foot apparel on every waking moment, and that includes getting up and walking to the bathroom in the middle of the night, they are setting themselves up for a serious fall.
