The studio has an interesting collection of all ages and genders, with the oldest into their 80’s. All are positive thinking individuals who come ready to learn, progress, and in many cases heal. They bring their challenges with optimism and continue to challenge my years of expertise.
The Pilates Chair is another piece of exercise equipment designed by Joseph Pilates and is under used in Pilates studios. The exercises can range from easy beginner exercises to very challenging advanced exercises. There are compact models for sale for under $500 and students can easily use and store in places that are tight for space.
One of the benefits of the Pilates Chair is that some exercises require a fair amount of balance. As we age balance is one of the first things we lose, so it is important to do exercise that requires balancing skills. Not to scare people away from the Pilates Chair, a person can easily fall. Training and learning what muscle groups to use is advised before experimenting at home. The students I have worked with and have bought one for their homes enjoy it are happy with the strength they gain in a short period of time.
